ABOUT BUYING

Owning a home can be a very rewarding experience. There's nothing quite like the sense of pride you'll feel after you've moved into your first home and added your own personal touches. And owning a home provides you with great financial benefits, such as capital appreciation and tax deductions. When tax benefits are factored in, you almost always end up paying much less for an owned home than you would for a comparable rental. That's right, if you take the same amount of money you're paying in rent and put it into your own home, you will enjoy a better home and a better lifestyle.
 But the actual process of buying a home can be a true ordeal. As a first time buyer you're probably overwhelmed by all the decisions you have to make regarding financing, choice of neighborhood, and type of home. And of course, you want to buy a home that's a good value. The drop in home prices in the late 80's and early 90's underscored the fact that you have to be vary careful about how you spend your money.
